just sent a message. Have you read The Looming Tower by Lawrence Wright - I'm just finishing it and its terrific.
I've not read that one yet. It's on my list though. I'm currently reading Bob Woodward's latest...and when did he become a shill for the Bushites...and Static, written by the host of Democracy Now. Static is a little shrill and super partisan, but perhas that's the only way to break through the shell of lies, I dunno.

hmm, I'm all for less shrill - seems like we evolved from the end of irony into the age of the shouting match. The Lawrence Wright book is pretty straight forward and not partisan, it is really just a history of contemporary radical Islam and how we chose to ignore or underestimate it - because in Afghanistan, when the Saudis and Egyptians worked with the CIA against the Soviets they (Saudis and Egyptians) tended to be big goof-ups.
Groovy. I know a lot about the culture of Lebanon, but it's radically different there than anywhere else in the Middle East. I'll definately move The Looming Tower higher on the reading list, it sounds fascinating.

Unrelated question: Are you the artist behind all the exhibitions? If so, you have an extraordinary grasp of a line art style that has been sadly almost extinct for 40 years. Not that cartooning is dead, by any stretch, but the simple line conveying greater content is a style one rarely sees outside of the New Yorker anymore. It reminds me of sort of Thurber meets Kliban...and someone else for whom I can't get my mind to supply a name. (I assure you I mean that as a compliment...) :)

yep, that artist is me - and thanks, I love all those mid-20th Century guys! (though right now I'm into Victoria Roberts.)
hey looks like this campaign worked, a little, for now. Thanks for helping get me involved.
No, thanks to you for *getting* involved. :)
